Local Performance Artists Unleash Their Original Works at The Living Room Theatre
The Living Room is an unconventional theatre space in the Crossroads Arts District in Kansas City, Missouri, founded in 2010 by Rusty Sneary and Shawnna Journagan. Originally an auto showroom, the two story building was transformed into a performance venue via the blood, sweat, passion and dedication of Sneary, Journagan and their friends and family in the KC community.
Over the past seven years, The Living Room has produced over 50 shows, as well as dozens of staged readings and special theatrical events. In that time, we have organically evolved our mission statement toward a focus on new works written, performed, and realized by local and expatriate Kansas City artists.
We are showcasing original works written, performed, and realized by KC born and bred artists in our 8th season. The Mascot is a satirically comic coming of age story about an obsessive father, a starry eyed son, and the drama that ensues when a father's pursuit of his unfulfilled aspirations torpedo the dream of his son. The plays unconventional and unforgettable characters will win you over as they prove they are deft at losing.
The cast includes a talented Kansas City acting ensemble featuring Sam Cordes, Jen Mays, Matt Rapport, Emma Carter, Hollis Wilhoit and Coleman Crenshaw.
At Edgewater at City Center Apartments in Lenexa, Kansas, we believe it’s important to integrate yourself into the community, which is why we suggest attending this event. Meeting new people, having unfamiliar experiences, and joining neighborhood activities is the key to an exceptional lifestyle.
